Job Purpose
SXSW is seeking a skilled and creative Seasonal Video Editor to produce compelling, on-brand video content for sxsw.com and SXSW’s social media channels. The ideal candidate is a motivated, detail-oriented storyteller with strong post-production skills, a creative vision, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role reports to the Creative Director, Video, and collaborates closely with the Content team and key stakeholders to deliver engaging visual stories that capture the energy and spirit of SXSW.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create compelling content, from concept to completion, that serves our Music, Film & TV, and Innovation audiences, and supports our business goals.
- Perform editing, color correction, sound design, and basic motion graphics.
- Capture and edit on-site footage during the SXSW event, including interviews, sessions, and highlights.
- Manage project timelines and ensure efficient workflows.
- Stay current with video production techniques and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure consistency and creative alignment across all content and messaging.
On-Site Responsibilities
- Work extended hours during the event, from March 9-18, 2026.
- Create and publish content from daytime Conference sessions to nightly festivals and awards coverage.
- Support late-breaking announcements and important event updates.
- Monitor SXSW's social media accounts for community engagement.
- Assist with live content needs and other video coverage as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Proven video editing experience with a strong portfolio.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Familiarity with editing and exporting content for social platforms.
- Knowledge of motion graphics, color grading, and sound design.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a high-stress environment with tight deadlines.
- Ability to work well within a team and independently on projects.
- Self-starter who can multitask and solve problems quickly and accurately.
- Basic knowledge of Airtable, Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
- Must have a portfolio of previous work to be considered.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a workstation and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift and carry video equipment (up to 50 pounds).
- Operation of cameras, audio gear, and other production equipment.
- May require occasional bending, reaching, or extended periods of walking during event coverage.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors, including exposure to varying temperatures, lighting, and noise levels.

Work Location & Schedule
The position is full-time and located in Austin, Texas. Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 10 am - 6 pm. You must be available to work additional hours from January through March, including evenings and weekends, and during the SXSW event (March 9-18, 2026), which will have extended on-site working hours.
