About the Role

We’re looking for a passionate and detail‑oriented UI Engineer with a deep commitment to accessibility to join our team. This role is central to ensuring our user interfaces are inclusive, compliant, and delightful for everyone. You’ll lead our accessibility efforts across the organization; from scheduling audits and driving remediation to building tooling that automates a11y best practices. You’ll also partner closely with engineering and design teams to ensure our products are usable and inclusive by default, and in addition to driving audits, workshops, and best practices, you’ll contribute directly to our UI codebase; applying the same standards you promote across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and drive accessibility compliance: schedule and lead accessibility audits, triage findings, and follow up with teams to ensure timely remediation.
  • Build tooling and automations: integrate accessibility linting, testing, and CI pipelines to catch issues early and reduce friction.
  • Partner cross‑functionally: collaborate with designers, engineers, and PMs to embed accessibility from ideation through delivery.
  • Empower teams through education: host workshops, office hours, and async training to upskill teams on a11y best practices and practical implementation.
  • Maintain living documentation: own and update a centralized, shareable accessibility compliance report used by internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Legal).
  • Contribute to the UI codebase: support general UI engineering needs when accessibility demands are light.

Technologies We Use

React, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), Storybook, LevelAccess, Chromatic, ESLint, Playwright, GitLab CI/CD, Lighthouse, Aria‑Components, Webpack, Vite

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience building modern UI applications with a strong emphasis on accessibility.
  • Deep knowledge of WCAG guidelines (2.1/2.2), WAI‑ARIA patterns, and common accessibility testing tools.
  • Hands‑on experience integrating accessibility into developer workflows (e.g., linting, automated tests, CI).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advocate for and teach accessibility concepts across levels and disciplines.
  • Pragmatic mindset, capable of balancing compliance with usability and development velocity.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage cross‑team follow‑ups, reports, and documentation.

Preferred Skills

  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).
  • Experience with accessibility audit platforms (e.g., Deque Axe Monitor, LevelAccess, ARC Toolkit).
  • Familiarity with enterprise compliance needs (e.g., VPATs, accessibility statements).
  • Previous experience maintaining shared documentation or internal portals.
  • Contributions to UI design systems or component libraries with a11y in mind.

Why Join Us?

  • Be the driving force for accessibility across a high‑impact, widely used UI platform.
  • Champion inclusive design and engineering practices at scale.
  • Tackle meaningful challenges that improve the experience for millions of users.
  • Enjoy a flexible, supportive environment where accessibility is a first‑class concern.
