Role / Department
Senior Event Planner/Corporate Marketing, Events. Responsible for planning and managing all aspects of events, from initial concept to execution. Tasks include leading project teams, overseeing vendor management and contract negotiation, selecting event sites, handling communications, and conducting post‑event measurement.
The key responsibilities of the role include
- Plans and coordinates events and conferences for corporate functions, including client conferences and workshops, meetings, receptions, and sponsorship events.
- In partnership with the marketing team, develops a unified brand message, agenda, and theme to support the goals and objectives of the event.
- Coordinates with internal partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure flawless attendee journey and experience.
- Establishes project plan and leads planning team to deliver against timelines, budgets and objectives.
- Negotiates contracts with suppliers and vendors as needed.
- Ensures proper branding and messaging occurs at all events.
- Supports the development of risk assessment and contingency plans; ensures compliance with health and safety obligations at all events.
- Works independently, with guidance only in complex situations, and collaborates with the Marketing team to communicate measurable objectives and execute defined events and conference priorities.
- Manages all logistical aspects, including catering, audio‑visual, décor, themes, travel and scheduling.
- Stays current with trends in event planning, design, production, and technology.
Skills / Qualifications
- 10‑15 years of working knowledge and experience.
- Proven experience managing large corporate events.
- In‑depth conceptual understanding of event coordination, marketing, and communications principles and strategies.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage details and logistics with big‑picture strategic objectives and outcomes at the center.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent customer service skills; ability to build business relationships with clients and vendors.
- Ability to react quickly and identify solutions to problems that arise day‑of event.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, hotel management, event‑planning or related field preferred.
- CMP certification beneficial, but not required.
Working Model
Hybrid. The successful candidate will spend their time between working in the office and working from home.
Salary Range
$83,100 – 141,300 USD. Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401(k) and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well‑being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
