Purpose
The part‑time Graphic Designer role supports the Blanton Museum of Art’s creative and digital initiatives by producing visually compelling materials that advance the museum’s mission, engage audiences, and strengthen its brand. Working under the direction of the Assistant Director of Creative and Digital Content, this position will design and produce a range of digital and print collateral, ensuring visual consistency, accuracy, and high‑quality execution across platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong technical design skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit to help the museum deliver engaging, on‑brand content. This is a 3‑year position ending on 12/31/28. If there is further need and funding is available, an extension may be offered but is not promised or guaranteed.
Responsibilities
- Design and produce marketing and communication materials to support exhibitions, programs, and institutional initiatives. Projects may include print and digital ads, brochures, invitations, signage, social media graphics, email assets, and presentations.
- Adapt existing creative concepts for various platforms and formats while maintaining visual consistency and brand integrity.
- Contribute to the refinement and consistent application of the Blanton’s brand identity across all materials by supporting other departments in the development of public‑facing materials.
- Maintain organized project files, templates, and asset libraries to support efficiency and continuity across creative projects.
- Support the production and preparation of print‑ready files, including layout adjustments, prepress setup, and coordination with printers and vendors.
- Assist with staffing on‑site and off‑site museum and community events and programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- At least one year of experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva; familiarity with Figma.
- Strong visual design, layout, and typography skills, with an eye for detail and consistency.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and openness to feedback and collaboration.
- Portfolio demonstrating professional‑quality design work across print and digital media.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience.
- Familiarity with Asana or similar project‑management tools.
- Experience designing email campaigns in Mailchimp.
- Familiarity with web page design in WordPress (Gutenberg Editor).
Hourly Rate
$30 per hour

Work Shift
- Hybrid with requested in‑office days Monday, Wednesday.
- Occasional evening and weekend work required.
