Compensation: $55 per hour (Instructor level)

Description

The Library Operations division of the Department of Research & Learning is inviting applications for an Adjunct Humanities Librarian who will serve as the liaison librarian and subject specialist for the Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The role will embed inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility principles in the delivery of in‑person and virtual reference services, library instruction, individualized research support, and collection development activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as liaison to the Department of English, managing outreach, instruction, research consultation, and collection development.
  • Create and maintain library guides, handouts, tutorials, and other learning objects for subject‑specialist/liaison activities.
  • Provide both virtual and in‑person reference services.
  • Prepare and submit monthly engagement statistics.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Required availability: 22 hours weekly; Monday evenings 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., and daytime hours Tuesday‑Friday as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MLS/M.L.I.S. degree from an ALA‑accredited program is required.
  • Experience in reference services, instruction, educational programming, and instructional material development.
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, belonging, and accessibility in teaching, learning, and engagement services.
  • Second master’s degree in a related discipline is required for appointment at Assistant Professor rank.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of WorldCat Discovery/OCLC Library Management System and related systems.
