Job Overview

The Syracuse University College of Law Library is seeking a Law Reference Librarian to support our ABA‑accredited hybrid online J.D. program, JDi. In this role you will answer questions from residential and online students, faculty, and community members, present research sessions, create research guides, and develop collection development skills focused on the unique needs of online J.D. students.

Our library works closely with the university library system and the law school, providing additional resources and support. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to serving diverse learners and enhancing access to legal information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide reference services to both residential and online J.D. students, faculty, and community members.
  • Present research sessions and create research guides tailored to the online student population.
  • Assist in collection development to meet the unique needs of the JDi program.
  • Collaborate with the university library system and law school staff to maximize resources and support.

Qualifications

  • Valid librarian certification and experience in reference services, preferably in a law library setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Proficiency with legal research databases and electronic reference tools.
  • Experience with online education or hybrid learning environments is highly desirable.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
