Job Summary

The Video Content Specialist is responsible for creating, producing, and managing video content across various platforms. Their main job duty is to tell stories about the organization's brand at-large, and individual club initiatives.

Job Duties

Content Development

Play a pivotal role under the Director of Editorial Content in identifying entertaining and engaging video concepts to deepen the fandom of those who watch.

Bring specific ideas to meetings and develop and present ideas independently throughout the season.

Keep tabs on organizational needs and brand initiatives to match them with appropriate video messaging.

Production

Create production plans for individual features, and recurring segments, which include various distribution channels the club operates.

Organize equipment and staffing for shoots which includes interfacing with interview subjects.

Collect b‑roll.

Contribute to the collection of legal releases as assigned.

Write episodes of the television show, long‑form video projects, and related content in coordination with the Director of Editorial Content.

Post‑production

Edit feature when assigned.

Produce selecting soundbites and serve as a guiding force for projects edited by others.

Contribute to decisions related to content distribution and standards when serving as the primary manager of a project.

TV Show Administration

Manage administrative functions of the club's content offerings.

Gameday Content Capture

Contribute to gameday content capture, which may involve projects they work on directly or support initiatives from other departments that include production techniques, equipment, and settings.

Asset Distribution

Assist internal and external constituencies with requests for links and/or downloads of video features.

Upload Cardinals advertising spots to YouTube for paid advertisements carried by the marketing department.

Education / Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in a communications‑related field of study.

2 years of experience working as a video professional in sports, news, advertising, public relations, documentary, or related space.

Ability to be a creative, self‑starting storyteller.

Possess the ability to envision individual features and recurring segments and then transfer that vision into a finished product.

Must be proficient in using professional video equipment and Adobe Suite.

Ability to write in broadcast style.

Possess an excellent understanding of media, sports, and baseball.

Excellent collaboration, customer service, and people skills.

Have general knowledge of direct‑to‑consumer, television, business practices.

Education / Experience Preferred

3+ years of experience working as a content creator for a professional sports team, or major college athletics program.

2+ years of work experience as a weekly television‑style show.

Experience managing projects in Wrike, or a related content‑management program.

Knowledge of podcast production and advanced audio production techniques.

Experience writing in broadcast style, displaying a commanding feel for the technical and creative aspects of writing for on‑camera presentation.

Ability to present content on‑camera in a live format.

High levels of organizational skills.

Understands a deep knowledge of industry standards, and fan behaviors, on direct‑to‑consumer platforms.

Understands the inner workings of local television.

Knowledge of baseball and Cardinals history.
