In this position, you will:
Work with a team of technical writers and editors, ensuring high‑quality deliverables across multiple FAA projects.
Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guides aligned with FAA and federal requirements.
Oversee the development and maintenance of technical manuals, user guides, training materials, proposals, and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity experts, and program managers to translate technical concepts into clear, concise documentation.
Lead reviews and audits of documentation for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with FAA regulations and federal standards.
Ensure all materials comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements and FAA branding guidelines.
Manage documentation schedules, track progress, and allocate resources to meet project deadlines.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to writing staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
Present status reports and documentation readiness updates to FAA leadership and program managers.
Stay current on emerging tools, technologies, and documentation best practices, incorporating them into FAA processes.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
U.S. citizenship required.
Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.
8 years of experience with a BS/BA; 6 years of experience with MS/MA, 3 years of experience with a Ph.D.
Proven expertise in technical writing and editing, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency across documents.
Experience producing, managing, and maintaining documentation throughout its lifecycle.
Proficiency with technical writing tools and content management systems (CMS) such as SharePoint, Confluence, or Documentum.
Demonstrated ability to lead document control processes and maintain audit‑ready documentation.
Exceptional writing, proofreading, and attention to detail.
Experience ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility and plain language requirements.
Experience supporting proposal writing, compliance matrices, and contract deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience.
Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, or related discipline.
Knowledge of FAA, DOT, or federal documentation standards.
Certifications such as CPTC (Certified Professional Technical Communicator), PMP, or SAFe Agile.
Experience managing technical writing teams supporting FAA or other federal agencies.
Familiarity with NextGen FAA modernization programs, aviation systems, or air traffic management documentation.
Experience integrating graphics, multimedia, and data visualization into technical publications.
Background in training development or instructional design for technical systems.
