We’re seeking a General Manager who can take full ownership of sales, marketing studio operations, while helping establish Tempo Fitness as the premier boutique fitness brand in the area. This is a dynamic, hands‑on role suited for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to be a key part of building a brand from the ground up.

Position Summary

The General Manager will oversee all aspects of studio operations with a strong focus on sales, marketing, community engagement, and team leadership. This role requires a self‑starter who is equally comfortable developing strategy and executing day‑to‑day tasks—from managing staff to teaching classes, driving membership sales, and spearheading local marketing initiatives. This role will play a crucial role in shaping the member experience, building partnerships, and growing every pillar of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive studio membership sales through digital marketing, community outreach, partnerships, referrals, and events.
  • Manage and track membership metrics, including new member acquisition, retention, and conversion rates.
  • Develop creative sales strategies, promotions, and corporate partnerships to increase revenue streams (e.g., punch cards, personal training sessions, small group training).
  • Actively engage with prospective members through tours, consultations, and follow‑up communications.

Marketing & Brand Development

  • In conjunction with our marketing agency, lead efforts including social media content, paid advertising, email campaigns, and community collaborations.
  • Plan and execute marketing strategies for studio launch, ongoing campaigns, and special events.
  • Build partnerships with local businesses, wellness brands, and influencers to expand awareness.
  • Collaborate with ownership to maintain brand consistency across all touchpoints.

Operations & Leadership

  • Oversee day‑to‑day studio operations, ensuring an exceptional client experience.
  • Manage scheduling, payroll coordination, inventory, and vendor relationships.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, and training coaches and front desk staff.
  • Ensure adherence to studio policies, safety protocols, and brand standards.

Instruction & Programming

  • Coach and sub in for any class formats as needed to maintain schedule continuity and engagement.
  • Work with instructors to design class formats, evaluate performance, and improve overall programming quality.
  • Gather and analyze member feedback to optimize the class experience.
  • Support the development of the Kids Gym and specialty programs.

Technology & Communications

  • Oversee studio management systems (booking, CRM, point of sale, scheduling).
  • Ensure smooth communication across digital platforms, including email, app notifications, and website updates.
  • Support the migration and optimization of the studio website to a new platform (e.g., WordPress or Squarespace).

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in fitness studio management, sales, or marketing.
  • Proven track record of driving membership and revenue growth.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills; ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Experience teaching group fitness classes across multiple formats (or willingness to train in them).
  • Proficient in digital marketing and social media platforms.
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and adaptable to a startup environment.
  • Tech‑savvy with comfort using studio management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
