About the Position Full‑time, Non‑Tenure‑Track (NTT) Assistant Professor‑in‑Residence of Communication Studies in the Honors College. The position is promotable through traditional rank but has no research requirement. Anticipated start date August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
Teach four Honors courses each semester, typically including three public‑speaking courses and one senior‑level “special topics’’ seminar designed by the candidate. Additional 200‑level interpersonal communication courses may be assigned.
Collaborate with Honors College faculty, mentor undergraduate students, supervise senior Honors research thesis projects.
Participate in service to the college, university, and community; maintain a substantial in‑person presence on campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Communication Studies or a closely related field from a regionally accredited university, awarded before employment.
Prepared to teach Honors Public Speaking and 400‑level Honors special topics seminars.
Proven record of transformative teaching appropriate to a rank of Assistant Professor‑in‑Residence.
Demonstrated service at student, college, university, or community level.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong commitment to student success, mentoring, and undergraduate intellectual development.
Proven ability to develop and deliver well‑structured, rigorous, and innovative courses.
Evidence of effective, innovative instructional methods that promote active learning and critical thinking.
Background in social science with ability to teach Honors courses in interpersonal, health, or organizational communication.
Experience teaching in an Honors environment, service‑learning, or online/hybrid formats.
