Designer Draftsman - Hotel & Cruise Ship American Cruise Lines is seeking a dynamic Design Draftsman to join our Product Development team. The Design Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed working drawings and 3D models to support our Interior Designers and additional assigned projects. Duties for this role include drafting and design assistance, other engineering support work, and other office duties as assigned. This position is located in Guilford/Essex, CT,

Responsibilities

Individually, and as a member of a work crew, take preliminary designs from the interior designers, marine engineers, and naval architects to make layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, bill of materials, sketches and diagrams of new construction cruise ships.

Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacturing and/or purchasing.

Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to supervisor. Have a solid understanding of drafting techniques.

Possesses mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.

Proficiency in AutoCAD a must. Experience with Rhino and/or SolidWorks a plus.

Understand interior design symbols as it relates to production drawings.

Seek quotes for materials and parts needed for production and fabrication.

Qualifications

Must possess proficiency with MS Office products and AutoCAD.

Candidate must have strong ability to multi-task and juggle multiple project deadlines concurrently.

Candidate must pass a background check.

Knowledge of marine industry and marine vocabulary is highly desired.

Knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills: verbal and written English, mandatory.

Applicant must be able to take detailed verbal directions and deliver accurate drawings.

Strong work ethic and dedication.

Must work well in a team dynamic.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.

Ability to perform repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Ability to be physically able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
