Senior Planner – Matrix Design Group, Inc. Pay Range Base pay: $100,000 - $135,000 per year. Summary Matrix Design Group is seeking a Senior Planner with federal experience to manage planning projects and support our expansion into military and community planning. The successful candidate will bring expertise in project management, business development, proposal writing, and client engagement. Responsibilities include overseeing project financials, budgets, invoicing, progress reporting and subcontractor oversight, as well as identifying new business opportunities and leading major proposal efforts. Essential Functions Serve as a technical expert in military and defense community planning, consulting on projects at national military installations and defense communities, and expanding business in this area. Lead project and program management activities, including technical direction, scheduling, cost estimating, quality control and client relations, ensuring program success and stakeholder satisfaction. Drive marketing and business development efforts, recommend new opportunities, grow the client base, lead proposal efforts, and represent Matrix in professional associations. Provide senior‑level mentoring and leadership to junior staff, communicate the company vision, motivate employees, and maximize group profitability and quality control. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning, landscape architecture or related field; master’s degree preferred. 10–15 years of experience in project management and operations, with an emphasis on planning. AICP certification required. 15+ years of progressive planning experience, at least 4 years in the private sector. Business development, marketing and proposal experience. Extensive knowledge of community, land use, transportation, urban design, military compatibility, redevelopment, and general planning. Familiarity with DoD land‑use directives and military environment planning. Ability to travel to project sites, federal facilities and military installations. Approach high‑level leadership and management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
