SUMMARY OF DUTIES To develop, write and produce newscasts, specials or special projects as assigned. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Select and write news, weather and sports stories for newscast Create a fast-paced, visually stimulating and well written newscast that follow KTEN News Brand Emphasize live-local coverage and find points of difference from our competition Supervise reporters, anchor and photographers assigned to show on story development, presentation and breakout elements Manage graphics and animation elements for every newscast Supervise weather anchor to provide the best weather information and showcase it every day Approve scripts for reporters Target KTEN News demographic audience Select and write stores for web and social media platforms Win Breaking News Manage newsroom in absence of News Director or Assistant News Director Support & champion the KTEN News brand QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS At least 1 years’ experience as a producer is preferred College degree in broadcast related field is preferred. Ability to work independently with excellent editorial judgement. Familiarity with newsroom computer system is a plus. PREFERRED SKILLS Proficiency with Microsoft Office PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Good eyesight and hearing, ability to walk up stairs and sometimes long distances, ability to lift weights up to 10 pounds, ability to sit for a long period of time, ability to handle often stressful situations under deadline, good manual and overall physical dexterity.
