Assistant Professor of Music (Music History & Applied Music)

Responsibilities

  1. Teach the three-semester undergraduate music history sequence.
  2. Teach applied lessons in your area of strength.
  3. Teach in other areas commensurate with experience and education.
  4. Develop a record of research/creative activity.
  5. Recruit students for the applied area and the Department of Music.
  6. Assess students, hold office hours, and engage in department, college, and university service.

Qualifications

Applicants are required to have a completed doctoral degree in music and a record of successful artistic/professional achievements.

Preferred qualifications include prior experience in higher education, teaching music history, and/or teaching applied music lessons.

Standard requirements: requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must adhere to University’s core values: People-Centered, Community, Integrity, Visionary, and Connections, per the MSU Texas Values Journey. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.

Position Details
