Job Summary

KALB, the dominant #1 station in Alexandria, Louisiana, is seeking a dynamic and driven News Reporter / Mixed Media Journalist to join our newsroom. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong news judgment, storytelling skills, and the ability to write, shoot, and edit stories for newscasts, web articles, and digital platforms. A digitally savvy, investigative mindset is a plus.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce daily news stories, enterprise pieces, and breaking news for multiple platforms.
  • Write compelling broadcast and digital news stories.
  • Operate news equipment safely and professionally.
  • Complete entire news stories from story selection through writing, filming, editing, and digital elements.
  • Contribute regularly to news coverage.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Degree in journalism, communications, broadcast, or a related field is required.
  • Strong writing, speaking, and communication skills.
  • Good on‑camera presence for live and pre‑recorded segments.
  • Ability to meet daily news deadlines and work under pressure during breaking news.
  • Understanding of and adherence to journalism ethics and AP Style.
  • Knowledge of ENPS and Edius is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
