TPWD - Manager III (Fleet and Radio Manager) Under the direction of the Support Resources Division Director, the Fleet and Radio Branch Manager performs complex managerial work administering the daily operation and activities for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department Fleet and Radio program. The manager administers the fleet management and radio communication operations program and performs oversight of the fleet and radio staff. Responsibilities include overseeing maintenance and repair support for agency radio equipment and systems statewide, establishing program goals and objectives, developing program guidelines, procedures, policies, rules and regulations, developing schedules and priorities, monitoring and evaluating program activities, and evaluating budget requests. The manager works under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment and performs additional duties as assigned. Responsibilities Administer fleet management and radio communication operations program. Oversee maintenance and repair of radio equipment and systems statewide. Establish program goals, guidelines, procedures, and policies. Develop schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving program objectives. Monitor and evaluate program activities and develop budget requests. Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Perform additional duties as assigned. Comply with all Agency, Division, and Branch rules, regulations, and procedures. Qualifications Education : Graduation from High School or GED (minimum requirement). Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Fleet, Communications Technology, Business Management, or a related field. Experience : Two years full‑time experience managing a large commercial vehicle fleet and/or two‑way radio operations, and one year supervisory or management experience. (NOTE: Experience may have occurred concurrently.) Preferred: Three years of full‑time fleet and radio operations management and two years supervisory experience. Licensure : Must possess or be able to obtain and hold a Texas class “C” driver’s license within 30 days of employment. Retention of position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining the required license. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Knowledge of public administration and management, including local, state, and federal laws relevant to fleet and radio communications. Knowledge of radio, vehicle, and related equipment purchasing and repair. Knowledge of federal and state transportation laws, FCC regulations, and Clean Air Act requirements. Knowledge of budgeting, fiscal management, personnel management, and civil rights laws. Knowledge of safe use, operation, and loss prevention practices related to radio, fleet, and vehicle operations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Customer service orientation and ability to interact professionally with staff at all levels and other State agencies. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
