The role emphasizes clear communication, organized work processes, and a passion for high-caliber plumbing design. Responsibilities are performed under the direction of a senior engineer and include plumbing design, building load calculations for plumbing systems, equipment selection, piping layout, creation and editing of project details, and development of project engineering specifications. The role also involves participating in design review meetings and workshops, resolving design challenges, researching design options, documenting findings, ensuring drawings and designs comply with local codes and design standards, and coordinating with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable. Responsibilities Under the direction of a senior engineer, be responsible for plumbing design, including calculating building loads for all plumbing systems. Select equipment and layout piping; create and edit project details; write and edit project engineering specifications. Participate in design review meetings and workshops; resolve a variety of complex design challenges, including conflicting owner and project requirements, application of different system types, or challenging field conditions. Research design options and document findings for the project team. Ensure drawings and designs are in accordance with local codes and design standards. Coordinate with architectural and engineering disciplines as applicable. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, mechanical engineering or related field. 1 to 7 years of experience in architectural or consulting engineering with emphasis on plumbing design for healthcare, commercial, municipal, institutional or government facilities. Professional Engineering license or certification recognized by a state licensing board preferred or ability to obtain. Knowledge in HVAC systems and building controls.
