Description The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication invites applicants to apply for adjunct faculty positions in the Department of Radio, Television, Film (RTVF) to teach courses within its new pilot “Hofstra in L.A.” program, located on the Emerson College campus in Hollywood, California. The semester offers students on‑site courses related to the entertainment industry, internships, networking with alumni and industry leaders, and cultural activities. The successful candidates will teach a course or courses focused on film and/or television production.
Qualifications
A master’s in fine arts or other advanced degree, or a minimum of 10 years professional experience in a related field required.
Significant professional experience with credits producing filmed entertainment including motion pictures and television. Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of producing including development, finance, production, and distribution.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
Flexibility to accommodate a teaching schedule.
The ability to communicate effectively in English is a requirement.
Candidates must be available to begin teaching in the Spring 2025 semester.
Preferred Quals Summary
Teaching experience in higher education preferred.
For some courses, possess expertise in digital post production including audio and image processing, evidenced by significant professional work experience.

This is a 45‑classroom hour position for classes to be taught in the Spring 2025 semester (January 27, 2025 to May 17, 2025). Work for this position will be taught in English and performed onsite at the Emerson College Los Angeles Center.
Pay scale: $144.00 – $152.00 per classroom hour. A “classroom hour” means the time spent in the primary forum of the course or laboratory, regardless of whether the forum is in‑person or virtual. Payment for “classroom hours” encompasses payment for all classroom or laboratory time, preparation, grading, office hours, and other course‑or‑laboratory‑related work for that course or laboratory.
Special Note: If you are selected for this role, your employment will be through Kelly Services.
