as a Sr. Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) in Hanover, MD. This role designs and develops sophisticated technical training solutions.
Responsibilities
Apply the ADDIE Instructional Systems Design model to conduct thorough data gathering, analysis, and develop measurable learning objectives mapped to Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) and/or Job Qualification Standards (JQS).
Direct training design and work closely with content developers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), graphic artists, and multimedia developers to clarify complex concepts and produce instructionally sound solutions.
Produce deliverables including Project Schedules, Needs Assessment Reports, Design Plan Documents, Course Outlines, Storyboards, Instructor Guides, Student Guides, Video Scripts, Style Guides, and supporting resources and job aids.
Use technologies such as XML, HTML, Confluence, Microsoft Office, Audacity, Camtasia Studio, Adobe Captivate, and custom solutions to support learning solution creation. Familiarity with learning management system (LMS) applications in government and commercial spaces is required.
Maintain strong written and oral communication skills throughout the design and development process.
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of adult learning methods and demonstrated experience applying the ADDIE model.
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Captivate or similar training development tools.
Proficiency in conducting analyses of training requirements and designing, developing, and revising complex interactive eLearning and/or instructor‑led courseware of a technical nature.
Ability to identify appropriate training delivery methods based on subject matter, audience, resources, schedule, and other customer‑driven requirements.
Experience creating flow diagrams, storyboards, and other materials to assist in designing instructionally sound, complex learning solutions.
Strong collaboration skills with SMEs to gather content, create realistic scenarios and activities, and ensure technical accuracy of instructional content.
Quality Assurance skills for testing learning objects and developing and editing supporting documentation for design, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of learning solutions.
Excellent communication skills, including speaking and writing, and the ability to collaborate with team members and prioritize tasks under strict deadlines.
Well‑organized with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements.
Availability to work a 40‑hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday, with potential overtime during critical peaks and last‑minute requests.
Minimum Education & Experience Minimum eight (8) years of documented, relevant work experience in Instructional Systems Design with a directly related Master’s Degree, OR minimum ten (10) years of documented, relevant work experience in Instructional Systems Design with a directly related applicable Bachelor’s Degree, OR minimum fourteen (14) years of documented, relevant work experience in Instructional Systems Design with no degree.
