The Email Marketing Specialist position exists to be responsible for administrating, coding, and deploying mass‑market email, push and SMS notification campaigns. This position works with the Email Marketing Team to help impact relevance, incorporate best industry practice, and create error free production and distribution of each deployment.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Keeps at the forefront of the technical, analytical, and marketing concerns of email marketing

Campaign Management

Manages the digital processes from creation through deployment while keeping on a strict schedule

Launches campaigns to the entire base or segmented list to our constituents

Initiates A/B testing toward improving key metrics (i.e., opens, clicks, and conversion)

Contributes and adheres to the development of department standards and processes

Steers the resolution of technical and business problems that result from assigned activities

Establishes and maintains a healthy give / take atmosphere of respect between ministry contacts and the Digital Interactive Marketing team

Creates, specifies, and recommends improvements that will increase value for the ministry and additional revenue, based on a sound understanding of the ministries’ unique business challenges

Creates innovative marketing solutions that maximize the internet's strength

Brings strategic vision and objectivity to the Digital Interactive Marketing team, keeping all work in focus and on target to achieve significant returns on objectives

Impact Relevance

Helps develops base email contact strategies, and robust test matrix

Works with the data services team to execute list segmentation to impact relevance

Measures the effectiveness of initiatives to improve relevancy

Creates Dynamic content to target relevant content via digital marketing

Team Membership

Acts as a team representative on technical development projects that impact product, key metrics, and relevancy

Contributes to strategic and tactical planning

Other Duties/Responsibilities

Masters software utilized by the ministry (Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Litmus, Aprimo and Photoshop)

Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or strong experience) in Computer Science is desired

Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred, Enterprise ESP expected

2‑4 years of proven experience coding using HTML & CSS

Coding experience for responsive email design

Understanding of AMPScript

2‑4 years of experience in digital marketing: online advertising, creative development, online media, site design and development, and/or managing websites preferred

2‑4 years of Database/Direct Marketing experience preferred

An Email/e‑newsletter guru

Photoshop, and Adobe Creative Suite preferred

A/B testing experience preferred

Preferred programming knowledge (SQL, Javascript, etc.)

Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts

Ability to successfully organize, prioritize and manage multiple online projects in a deadline‑driven environment

Effective problem‑solving skills, specifically the ability to assess situations, evaluate options and make decisions/draw conclusions

Superior writing, communication, and presentation skills

Understanding of the overall media landscape and the digital sector

Ability to grasp, understand, and discuss complex technical and analytical topics

Willingness to adapt to multiple environments

Experience and expertise with high‑level contact management and digital marketing development

Creativity and inventiveness in problem solving

Spreadsheet manipulation and basic statistical analysis

Experienced with online marketing tools (i.e., Litmus, Return Path, Mail Chimp, etc.)

Ability to work well in a team, to shine as an individual and to maintain a sense of humor

Extensive knowledge of email marketing, a desire for ownership

Ability to juggle multiple tasks without losing your focus

Excellent organizational and record keeping skills

Analytical bias

Pay Range $26.00 to $30.00/hr
