The Pre-Press Production Designer prepares print-ready materials (PDFs, plates, and proofs) and maintains all prepress equipment/software. They design or revise forms, documents, and marketing materials, ensuring brand standards and accurate customer specifications. This role also collects/analyzes project information, consults with customers, and performs weekly digital production backups.

Additionally, this position adjusts files for both offset and electronic output and ensures proper application of corporate identity standards. They provide recommendations to customers on the best production solutions and monitor/maintain the digital environment to support accurate, high‑quality print outcomes.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelors degree in graphic arts, communications or journalism is required.

Experience:

Minimum of three to five years experience in design, prepress workflow, and production of CTP offset and/or other related visual graphics is required.

Proficient skills in Acrobat, Quark Xpress, Photoshop, In-Design, Illustrator, and Microsoft applications on both Macintosh and PC format is required.

Prepress certification or CTP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepares and delivers print-ready materials (PDFs, plates, proofs, image transfers) according to customer specifications.

Consults with customers and internal creative teams to ensure accurate file setup, design adjustments, and printing requirements are met.

Performs quality checks, color adjustments, resizing, and layout optimization to ensure the best outcome for targeted equipment and media.

Maintains and troubleshoots prepress equipment/software (Heidelberg, Canon/Roland plotters, servers) and monitors supply needs for production.

Provides approved proofs/mocks to printers and bindery team to ensure accurate final production results.

Ensures adherence to corporate identity and brand standards across all output.

Performs regular data/system backups and monitors software upgrade needs for digital production systems.

Reviews job specs upon receipt and coordinates necessary changes with Project Coordinator as needed.

Pay Range

Hourly; Non-Exempt Position

$22.91 - $33.22
