The Manager, Industry Communications will serve as a key storyteller and strategist, amplifying CTA’s leadership in the tech industry. This role leads proactive media and communications initiatives highlighting CTA’s research, membership insights, standards, and policy expertise—with a focus on sustainability and financial tech. The ideal candidate combines journalistic instincts with a strong grasp of the technology landscape to elevate CTA’s year‑round narrative, translate complex data into compelling content and strengthen relationships with influential media and member voices.
This role is essential to ensuring CTA’s research, membership, and standards work achieve visibility commensurate with CES, the most powerful tech event in the world.
Critical Duties and Responsibilities
Lead proactive media relations for CTA’s research, membership, and standards portfolios
Develop and execute integrated communications plans that position CTA as an authority on financial technology, sustainability, and cross-industry innovation
Translate CTA research, forecasts, and data into clear, compelling storylines that resonate with media, policymakers, CTA members and the larger tech community
Serve as primary communications liaison for industry programs, membership initiatives, and certain board divisions
Support thought leadership and content related to industry efforts, including press releases, op-eds, blogs, and social content
Support CES‑related media activities to reinforce CTA’s broader leadership narrative
Liaise with relevant Membership Department team members and board divisions
Support the Market Research Department to provide strategic communications support to internal staff and departments related to industry and CTA divisions
Drive awareness of industry trends and product categories through strategic campaigns and budget management
Lead internal coordination and serve as a subject matter expert on key initiatives
Act as a media contact and spokesperson on industry issues and trends
Support CES media engagement, tours, and serve as a show spokesperson
Contribute to CTA events by managing media interviews, content development, and strategic planning
Stay informed on industry trends through continuous learning and media engagement
Other duties as required by business needs
Work Experience
Six+ years’ experience in media relations and communications initiatives related to the tech industry and public policy around tech-related issues not limited to: developing and executing issue advocacy campaigns, writing press releases and op-eds, social, scripting, and media mapping.
Demonstrated success in project management and organization.
Experience in rhetorical research, fact-checking, analysis and content development.
Education/Training
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, journalism, communications or equivalent work experience
Skills/Capabilities/Technical
Deep understanding of the media landscape and ability to tailor messages to target audiences.
Proven ability to cultivate internal and external relationships including with media, trade association members, vendors and consultants
Strong writing/editing skills; outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
Curiosity and ability to think creatively and generate original content and strategies
Able to work independently and proactively; a desire to seize opportunities
Budget and Staff
As needed budget and reporting responsibilities for projects
