Job Description
This role involves playing a critical part in planning and designing civil engineering projects for both federal and private land development. As a Civil CAD Designer, you will collaborate with a passionate team of civil engineers, engaging in diverse and meaningful projects across various market sectors.
Responsibilities
Effectively use reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, tests, and aerial photographs to assess soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
Prepare planning and designing documents for civil engineering, land development, and infrastructure projects in close collaboration with Project Engineers using engineering and design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Perform zoning and other feasibility assessments for development projects.
Conduct field inspection services as needed.
Write and/or review draft reports, including feasibility studies, stormwater management reports, technical specifications, and utility reports.
Interact professionally with client and subcontractor representatives in close collaboration with your supervisor.
Perform other duties as requested.
Essential Skills
Associate degree in Engineering Sciences, enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program with a focus in Civil Engineering, demonstrated equivalent knowledge, OR extensive AutoCAD/Civil 3D training.
3+ years of experience in site/civil design, including site planning, grading, stormwater management, drainage, and soil erosion.
Strong AutoCAD and Civil 3D design skills.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal land use permitting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities.
Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment.
Possess reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits and a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Occasional travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required.
