Position overview: The Director, Medical Communication and Publications will be a key leader responsible for driving the medical communications and publications strategy and activities across the Hematology portfolio. The role leads the Hematology medical communications and publications team and contributes to strategy development, planning, and execution of high-quality scientific publications. The role collaborates with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, CORE (Center of outcomes research, real world evidence, and epidemiology), Biostatistics, Commercial, Translational & Quantitative Sciences, and external collaborators to implement the medical communications strategy. This role is part of the Global Medical Affairs department and reports to the Senior Director of Medical Communications and Publications. A hybrid model is in place; onsite presence is required 60% (3 days/week) in Plainsboro, NJ.
Responsibilities
Lead the Hematology Medical Communications team and provide expertise to the matrix team in developing and executing the medical communication plan.
Demonstrate strong leadership and collaborate effectively with clinical and scientific experts at Genmab.
Maintain a global perspective and ability to work with colleagues across cultures, backgrounds, and geographies.
Drive the development, implementation, and execution of a global medical communication and publication plan.
Serve as the subject matter expert on publication-related matters, collaborating with internal and external disease-area experts to ensure high-quality analysis, interpretation, communication, and publication planning of data.
In developing a strategic publication plan, collaborate with cross-functional global stakeholders; anticipate risks, identify solutions, and adjust plans as healthcare landscapes change.
Provide leadership, guidance, and strategic oversight to team members, including direct reports.
Manage annual budget and resources, ensuring contracts, SOWs, and invoices are accurate and timely to deliver high-quality outputs.
Liaise with agency/vendor partners to ensure timely delivery of quality publications, providing direction, content review, and adherence to Genmab SOPs.
Contribute subject matter expertise to the creation or updates of departmental SOPs to improve processes and achieve organizational goals.
Be open, engaging, and transparent; navigate conflicts and push back when needed.
Qualifications
Advanced degree: PharmD, PhD or MD; CMPP desirable.
Oncology/Hematology experience strongly preferred.
7+ years in medical writing and relevant industry experience in medical communications.
Expertise across all aspects of scientific publication strategy, planning, and execution during drug development and commercialization.
Understanding of clinical research principles and disease-state knowledge.
Ability to drive and execute within a large matrix, cross-functional team.
Strategic thinking at an enterprise level with the ability to navigate ambiguity and fast-paced timelines.
Understanding of good publication practices (GPP, ICMJE) and related scientific data communication guidance.
Understanding of clinical trial design and execution, statistical methods, and data reporting requirements.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 20% of the time.

For US-based candidates, the proposed salary band is $182,400.00 — $273,600.00. The final offer considers skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
