Organization

The Gates Foundation is the largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity around the world. Founded on the premise that people everywhere, regardless of identity or circumstances, should have the chance to live healthy, productive lives, we encourage diversity, provide an exceptional benefits package, and create an environment for you to thrive personally and professionally.

Team

The Philanthropic Partnerships team (PPT) mobilizes resources and builds the next generation of champions for global health and development (GH&D), ensuring that philanthropy helps the world’s most vulnerable children survive and thrive. We engage ultra‑high‑net‑worth individuals, corporate and private foundations, philanthropic collaboratives, advisors, family offices, and social impact investors, strengthening the philanthropic ecosystem. Key programs include The Giving Pledge, Gates Philanthropy Partners, Proponent Labs, and initiatives enhancing the infrastructure for GH&D giving.

Your Role

The Audience Engagement Officer works with PPT to engage and inspire key partners—individual donors, institutional philanthropies, and others—to support global health and development priorities and accelerate philanthropic giving. This role focuses on positioning PPT’s work and giving opportunities to donor audiences, coordinating donor and partner communications, and ensuring a consistent, strategic, and compelling voice across channels. You will also manage systems, workflows, and vendors that support high‑quality execution across PPT.

What You’ll Do

  • Giving Product Marketing – Develop and execute marketing plans to promote PPT’s giving vehicles (such as Gates Philanthropy Partners) and other donor‑facing collaborative giving opportunities, coordinating across internal teams and creative vendors.
  • Manage relationships with creative, digital, and production partners to ensure timely, high‑quality execution of campaigns and materials.
  • Track performance and impact of marketing and engagement activities, using insights to refine strategies and strengthen PPT’s reach and resonance.
  • Asset Development and Messaging – Collaborate with the PPT Communications Officer and program teams to create clear, compelling materials—such as proposals, updates, and reports—that help relationship managers engage partners effectively.
  • Ensure PPT’s messaging and collateral reflect consistent tone, branding, and alignment with the foundation’s storytelling.
  • Develop and maintain a library of reusable assets, templates, and key narratives that make PPT’s work more legible and actionable for donors.
  • Leadership Voice and Event Engagement – Coordinate PPT’s participation in key public events and convenings, ensuring our presence aligns with strategic priorities and connects across teams and audiences.
  • Align leadership voice opportunities and outreach moments across PPT, the foundation’s executives, and the Chair.
  • Work with the PPT Communications Officer to ensure PPT’s external presence is aligned across PPT and the Foundation.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing or communications in a nonprofit or philanthropic context.
  • Experience leading integrated marketing campaigns for donor audiences in a nonprofit or philanthropic context.
  • Proven ability to manage external vendors—such as editors, designers, web developers, and creative agencies—including contracting, coordination, and delivery oversight.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing structured project plans and project management systems that support coordination across functions, track progress, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong written communication skills emphasizing clarity and tone.
  • Adept at managing sensitive communications and materials for senior or high‑profile stakeholders, ensuring confidentiality and precision in tone and delivery.
  • Ability to work independently, juggle multiple workstreams, and navigate ambiguity in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
  • Experience in global health or development preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with ultra‑high‑net‑worth donors preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with technical vendors and digital tools used in marketing and communications preferred but not required.
  • Applicants must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.
