News Director – Connoisseur Media

Join Connoisseur Media as a full‑time News Director, leading the KGLO News Team and hosting the morning show in Mason City, Iowa. The role runs Monday‑Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., covering news for five stations: KGLO AM 1300, KIAI 93.9, KLSS 106.1, KYTC 102.7, and KRIB AM 1490/96.7 FM.

Key Responsibilities

• Host the morning show on KGLO Monday through Friday.
• Ensure the news team meets the required minimum daily story count.
• Contribute to the web and other digital platforms, including managing the KGLO website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.
• Generate original story ideas daily that are not covered elsewhere.
• Collaborate with anchors and reporters to prioritize coverage of day‑to‑day news events.
• Monitor all local television, newspaper, and radio coverage of news in the market.
• Stay up to date with agenda and proceedings of city council, county commissioner’s court, and other local meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Market Manager.

Job Requirements

• Punctual and dependable.
• 5+ years of newsroom experience in a medium to major market.
• 5+ years of experience writing news stories for online publication.
• Proficiency with Adobe Audition, NewsChef, and other audio editing software as well as remote broadcast equipment.
• Experience with backend website content creation.
• Video editing and shooting skills are a plus.
• Strong understanding of the importance of social media for audience reach.
• Flexibility to work extended hours to cover other team members.
• Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and a fully insured personal vehicle required.
