Responsibilities

Craft compelling newscasts that embrace breaking news, enterprise content, emotion, and showcasing

Work directly with Executive Producer & news leaders to consistently build a high-quality news show

Be a leader in the newsroom

Demonstrate strong news judgement and understand the basics of journalism

Booth continuous coverage on broadcast and live streams for breaking news, weather coverage, and community events

React to breaking news and manage the newscast’s timing

Produce unique content for multi-platforms, including broadcast and digital

Use our extensive toolkit along with your own creative production techniques to enhance stories

Advocate for underrepresented people, communities and viewpoints to have a voice and presence in your show

Write in an exciting, accurate, and creative way

Enterprise news stories

Research stories to ensure they are factual and ascertain sources’ credibility

Use AI, social media and digital tools to research, discover, and produce content

Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer

Requirements

College degree in journalism, communications or something similar

2+ years full-time newscast producing experience

Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content

Strong social media skills to deliver content and listen for ideas

Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, and Axis graphics a plus

Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines

Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events

Shifts could include overnight hours, holidays and weekends.

Pay Range $60,000—$70,000 USD

TEGNA offers a generous Paid Time Off (PTO) benefit as well as nine paid holidays per year.
