Job Description / Desired Qualifications:
4+ years Experience in a related field. Bachelor's degree in Geographical Information Systems or related curriculum
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee GIS technical operations, ensuring optimal data management and visualization practices.
Lead complex GIS projects, from data management to visualization.
Ensure alignment of technical activities with GIS strategies.
Engage with stakeholders on GIS technical requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in GIS technical operations.
SKILL SETS & EXPERTISE:
4+ Years of in-depth experience with GIS tools, databases, and methodologies
This position reports to the Supervisor of GIS Services, which is a business unit of the Company's Corporate Real Estate (CRE) department.
The responsibilities include executing projects for clients from several departments across Company to deliver Geographic Information System (GIS) based solutions for data conversion, mapping, analysis, and other related tasks.
The position will coordinate with the Supervisor/GIS Project Specialist to ensure the business unit is meeting the customer’s needs, with a specific focus on maintaining Company’s telecommunication fiber assets in a GIS framework.
Major Job Responsibilities Include:
Supports the operation of and business development around fiber network infrastructure utilizing OSPInsight, 3-GIS and Esri software to document spatial and non-spatial details related to the planning, design engineering, construction, maintenance and marketing of fiber network assets
Compiles, integrates, edits, and maintains spatial and non-spatial data from a variety of sources for inclusion in Geographic Information System (GIS)
Analyzes engineering and construction drawings, survey maps, splicing diagrams, substation layouts, and other supplemental documentation for GIS data entry and correction
Supports telecom engineers, field crews, sales teams, infrastructure management and other telecom customers with mapping, data requests, data analysis, data conversion, and other related tasks
Candidates with the following preferred qualifications are encouraged to apply!
Education:
Degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred
GIS Professional (GISP) Certification is a plus
Esri certifications are a plus
Experience:
Professional experience in a GIS field of 4 or more years is preferred
A background in utilities industry, specifically fiber network design, construction or maintenance is preferred
OSPInsight, 3-GIS or other fiber management software experience is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of GIS theory and application
Proficiency with Python or other scripting languages
Working knowledge of Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
Broad knowledge of Remote Sensing, Global Positioning System (GPS), and the application of other GIS technologies and current industry trends
