Residential Product SME & Technical Writer Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Description The Residential Product SME & Technical Writer will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical documentation that enables EnFin partners to efficiently deploy best‑in‑class renewable energy systems and accelerate projects through the finance process. This role combines product research with update tracking for approved vendor products on EnFin’s AVL, as well as updating collateral documents in collaboration with Quality Systems & Service (QSS), Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Capital Markets teams. The goal is to ensure the accurate and timely publishing of critical finance and technical process documents that support system funding on EnFin’s portal.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast‑paced, agile environments and has a strong knowledge of residential renewable energy products. They will be responsible for drafting, editing, and collaboratively publishing documentation used in the Sales and Finance processes for EnFin projects across North America. Precision and attention to detail are critical, as many documents include cross‑references that must remain synchronized with portal updates and offline toolkits.

This position may be based in San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; or Teaneck, NJ, with in‑office expectations determined by the direct manager in accordance with company policies. Remote options may be considered in exceptional cases.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on residential solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), mounting systems, and related products, providing technical guidance to internal teams and external partners.

Create and maintain high‑quality technical documentation using tools like Microsoft Word, including installation manuals, user guides, technical application notes and training materials for EnFin portal or products sold through it.

Manage the full documentation lifecycle, including version control, using a technical document control and management board like Confluence or Airtable to ensure content is reviewed, approved, and published correctly.

Collaborate with product, engineering, and sales teams to gather technical information and translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.

Analyze and review technical data to ensure the accuracy of documentation and identify areas for process improvement.

Develop and standardize documentation templates and processes to ensure consistency and efficiency across all technical content.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field with 3‑5 years of experience.

Proven experience as a technical writer in a prior technical role, showing a portfolio of work demonstrating your ability to create a variety of technical documents.

Expertise in creating professional technical documentation using Microsoft Word, including advanced features like templates, styles, and cross‑references.

Experience with document version control and management systems, such as Confluence, Airtable, or similar platforms.

In‑depth subject matter expertise in residential solar PV and BESS, including knowledge of system components, installation processes, and industry standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to understand and simplify complex technical information for diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the renewable energy or financial services industry.

Experience with a structured authoring environment (e.g., DITA / XML / LaTeX). Overleaf or similar XML document management system is preferred.

Knowledge of Salesforce CRM and its data structure, customer portal for documents.
