Job Specific Summary We are seeking a Principal Communications Generalist who is a fast‑moving perfectionist that thrives on change and executes with an unrelenting focus on quality. Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Functional Communications, you will support and manage the creation, development, and execution of effective internal and external communication strategies. In this dynamic and varied role, your work will include communications strategy development, organizational change management communications, and employee engagement communications.
Responsibilities
Handle creating and implementing multiple forms of internal strategic communication activities, programs and content guided by the Medtronic Mission and overall business strategy.
Lead strategies, produce content and organize events to help align the organization’s goals in support of greater employee engagement and business impact.
Generate comprehensive strategic plans that engage employees with the objectives, policies, Mission, and growth strategies of the company.
Plan, write, edit and storyboard to persuade, educate and inspire internal audiences to change behavior or understand the work environment.
Support senior leadership in communicating key change initiatives, policy changes and other company information to employees.
Employ change management communications skills and an understanding of organizational dynamics and social psychology as required.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant communications experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant communications experience.
Nice to Have
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Journalism.
Excellent writing, editing, and creative skills.
Strong project management skills; ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and content contributors/subject matter experts.
Experience with PowerPoint, Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Teams and various desktop publishing.
Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
Creative problem‑solving skills and solid business acumen to connect communication strategies to business objectives.
Experience working directly with senior leaders and collaborating cross‑functionally with leaders and peers other functions across the globe.
Willingness to learn and implement the Medtronic brand voice in communications.
Accuracy, accountability, and strong organizational skills are essential to a successful performance.

Benefits & Compensation Compensation:
Salary ranges for U.S. locations (USD): $110,400.00 – $165,600.00. This position is eligible for a short‑term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
