Business Development & Marketing Associate
Position Overview
Thorn Run Partners is seeking a
Business Development & Marketing Associate
to support firmwide growth, marketing, and communications initiatives. This position, which requires in-person presence four days a week, will play a critical role in enhancing TRP’s visibility, supporting business development efforts, and maintaining consistent, professional communication across the firm’s platforms.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, creative, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of strategic thinking, content creation, and hands‑on project execution in a dynamic government affairs environment.
Digital Presence & Content
Website Management:
Maintain and regularly update the TRP website with new content, press releases, client insights, and firm news.
Content Creation:
Draft and edit marketing materials, blog posts, and web copy that reflect TRP’s thought leadership and expertise.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO):
Implement and monitor SEO strategies to ensure TRP ranks prominently for key search terms.
Social Media & Branding
LinkedIn Maximization:
Collaborate with senior leadership to manage and grow TRP’s LinkedIn presence through proactive posting, engagement, and performance tracking.
Event Promotion:
Support and promote TRP‑led events — including coordination and post‑event marketing.
Lead Development:
Assist partners with identifying and developing lead lists and direct outreach campaigns.
Proposal and RFP Coordination:
Serve as point person for coordinating and refining TRP pitches and RFP responses in collaboration with senior staff.
Pitch Metrics & Reporting:
Track and analyze proposal activity, success rates, and growth areas to inform future strategy.
Strategic Growth Support
Partner Recruitment:
Support leadership in identifying and interviewing potential partners and senior vice presidents for the firm.
Acquisition Targeting:
Assist in researching and developing outreach strategies for potential firm acquisition opportunities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Political Science, Business, or a related field.
1–3 years of experience in marketing, business development, communications, or a related role (experience in a government affairs, consulting, or professional services firm is a plus).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing analytics tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar).
Experience managing websites (WordPress or similar CMS) and executing SEO strategies.
Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with senior professionals.
Interest in government, public policy, and the intersection of business and politics.
Starting Salary:
$55,000 annually
