Amazon Web Services (AWS), Seattle, Washington, us, 98127
Sr. Manager, Product Marketing, AWS Product Marketing
Are you an experienced technologist who loves helping bring product value propositions to life via great storytelling? Do you enjoy working closely with customers and engineering teams to make sure we’re building products that will delight users? Do you like leading teams and developing people? Yes? We might have just the right role for you.
AWS is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. Product Marketing is a critical part of making sure that we are building the right products for our customers and creating crisp and differentiated value propositions that form the core of our storytelling efforts. Product Marketing managers work closely with our customers, product and field account teams, third‑party analysts, press, and many others. We synthesize multiple diverse perspectives and “connect the dots” between customers and various different AWS capabilities as we build and launch compelling new services.
In this role, you will leverage your own deep experience as a technologist as you lead a team of Product Marketing Managers responsible for AWS serverless, containers, and compute infrastructure. You will enable your team to work backwards and get the right customer insights, to stay sharp and deep on industry and product trends, and to synthesize all this data into meaningful information that informs our product roadmap and gets baked into the differentiated value propositions that your team creates. Your team will define the strategy for product launch and adoption and integrate efforts more broadly with other marketing and field teams across the company so that we can maximize customer awareness, adoption, and retention of products that will exceed the expectations of users. Your team will lead the creation of the most compelling assets that tell our story whether that’s presentations, demos, videos, and so on. Your team will also need to be able to “connect the dots” between various different AWS capabilities and services to make sure that we are deliberate in building and marketing the right portfolios of offerings for customers.
AWS is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud platform, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. You’ll have the chance to work on various different sets of these services and capabilities (including Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, Security) based on your experience, interest, and aptitude – as well as on new offerings while they are being developed.
We are looking for builders who have experience working directly with customers, analyzing and synthesizing data from multiple sources, and who thrive both when working closely with engineering teams to influence product outcomes and building value propositions that will educate customers on the value that technology can bring to them. In particular, we are looking for individuals who can operate at both a broad and deep level; who can understand our technology with the same depth that our customers do, and who can think like a technologist and a business leader simultaneously.
Key Job Responsibilities
Partner with engineering and product management to develop portfolio‑level strategy documents to guide prioritization of AWS offerings and capabilities we build
Creation of positioning and messaging artifacts that will represent our offerings at a portfolio level
Analysis and synthesis of 1st and 3rd party data (including driving direct data gathering from customers) to define opportunities for our offerings
Acting as an advocate for customers within AWS (both based on direct customer work and your interactions with our customer‑facing teams) during the product development process
Involvement in the generation of content artifacts (presentations, demos, etc.) that can be leveraged broadly to educate customers on our offerings
Working closely with other AWS teams to ensure these value propositions are articulated broadly and clearly (e.g. re:Invent keynote, AWS Summits, other AWS sales and marketing channels)
Basic Qualifications
Experience working with customers who are deploying cloud solutions
5+ years of managing teams experience
BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or 4+ years of technical work experience
Travel up to 15% of the time
7+ years working knowledge cloud‑based architectures in one or more technical domains (e.g. Analytics, Developer Tools, Compute, Databases, Generative AI, Observability, Security, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating across technical and non‑technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients
AWS certification, such as AWS Solutions Architect, or a similar cloud certification, or Associate’s degree or above
MBA, or Master’s degree in management, business administration, economics, engineering, marketing
