Job Description This role is essential within the Substation Department, where the designer will be responsible for developing electrical construction drawings for substations and mentoring lower-level designers. The position supports critical engineering initiatives that improve how companies serve the world.

Responsibilities

Create drawings for projects using the latest standards.

Implement part naming and numbering conventions, and manage file naming and protocols.

Utilize Vault and ProjectWise for project documentation to track design modifications and new designs.

Handle complex projects with minimum supervision.

Coordinate with team members from other departments involved in a design project.

Mentor less experienced designers.

Check and validate project drawings and those of peers and subordinates.

Create and modify single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation.

Design protection schemes for breaker controls, line relaying, bus relaying, and both internal and external station communications.

Essential Skills

Four plus years of experience designing schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, and schematics.

Four plus years of electrical design experience using MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience and/or education.

Work Environment The work environment involves using advanced technologies such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation. The role requires collaboration with professionals across various departments, necessitating a collaborative and communicative work style.

Job Type & Location Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
