The Opportunity We're seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented
Customs Entry Writer
to join our Import Department. The right candidate will be responsible for preparing, filing, and tracking import entries while ensuring compliance with all U.S. Customs and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong understanding of customs brokerage processes who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and file import entries in accordance with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
Review and process documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.
Classify commodities accurately under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS).
Ensure compliance with CBP and PGA requirements (FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
Coordinate with importers, carriers, and government agencies to resolve entry issues or delays.
Maintain communication with clients regarding entry status, delivery, and release updates.
Verify duty rates, valuation, and other regulatory requirements prior to entry submission.
Manage entry audits, post-summary corrections, and other compliance-related functions as needed.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in customs entry writing or brokerage.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements.
Proficiency in ABI software (experience with
CargoWise
preferred).
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Licensed Customs Broker preferred, but not required.
