Job Title: Communications Specialist – Disney Cruise Line, Disney Signature Experiences

Job Overview Provide strategic external communications support to proactively enhance and protect the reputation of the Disney Signature Experiences (DSE) portfolio, which includes Disney Cruise Line, Disney Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney & National Geographic Expeditions, Storyliving by Disney, Golden Oak, Disney Institute, and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa.

Role Description In this role, the Specialist will help develop and execute integrated external communications plans that promote key reputation drivers among priority audiences. Responsibilities include supporting issues management and crisis communications, identifying and crafting reputation‑building stories for earned and owned media, and creating a variety of communication assets such as press releases, key messages, social media content, and video scripts. The Specialist will collaborate closely with DSE Public Affairs teams—including Internal Communications, Executive Communications, External Affairs, and CSR—as well as Public Relations, Marketing, and segment‑wide External Communications partners to ensure alignment and consistency across all initiatives.

This position reports to a Senior Manager of Communications for DSE.

Responsibilities

Monitor industry headlines, track and clip media coverage, and conduct research on industry topics to provide strategic recommendations to Public Affairs leadership.

Develop story ideas and write for multiple external communication vehicles including press releases, blog posts, social and web content.

Manage communication calendars and project management systems.

Maintain department media lists and create executive briefs.

Facilitate photo and video shoots in support of content creation efforts for earned media and Disney‑owned media channels.

Manage editorial calendar for company social responsibility owned channels.

Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness and crisis communications plans.

Support the execution of media and Cast events.

Coordinate the distribution of company news.

Participate in an on‑call rotation to support media inquiries, issues management, and operational communications outside of normal business hours.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or public affairs, including professional internships.

Strong administrative, writing, research, and presentation skills.

Knowledge of the media landscape.

Excellent grammar skills and proficiency with Associated Press writing style.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software applications.

Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities while maintaining professional poise.

Proven ability to work well independently or in a group and is a self‑starter.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

Willingness to travel as needed (less than 10%).

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the cruise, travel, and timeshare industries.

Experience working with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Familiarity with Smartsheets and media research/monitoring tools such as Muckrack, Cision, and Netbase/Quid.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field.
