Job Location: Main Campus – Edmond, OK
Position Classification: Regular, full‑time, hourly, non‑exempt, benefit‑eligible staff position.
Salary: $15.38 per hour ($31,990.40 annual equivalent)
Schedule: 40 hours per week, four (4) 10‑hour shifts during one of three shifts; hours are flexible.
Position Overview & Job Duties
Receive and dispatch emergency and non‑emergency police and fire service calls; record call details and dispatch coordinates.
Operate the SafeWalk program, motorist assistance, and campus key access services.
Enter, update, and retrieve information from telecommunications and data systems (e.g., Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System).
Maintain files and records for emergency calls, personnel rosters, and key assignments.
Respond to walk‑in visitors, manage parking citation inquiries, and provide campus information to the public.
Monitor fire alarm, panic alarm, and video surveillance systems; report malfunctions and coordinate with campus fire marshal and risk management.
Operate police radio and coordinate with local emergency providers, maintaining communication on multiple frequencies.
Operate digital recording equipment, mainframe terminal, and related computer systems; perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Experience
General education or vocational training and 3+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must not have been convicted of a serious misdemeanor or felony crime.
Proficient in spoken English.
OLETS certification and 30 college credits (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Make sound, effective decisions with minimal or no supervision.
Complete State of Oklahoma Telecommunications Certification within six months, recertify every two years, and maintain fingerprinting requirements.
Attend weather monitoring software training within one year of employment.
Communicate calmly under stress; keep highly accurate records and files.
Operate public safety communication devices efficiently; handle stressful emergency situations.
Maintain good human relations and professionalism with the public and agencies.
Follow complex instructions and maintain password confidentiality.
