WFFT-TV FOX 55 – Fort Wayne, Indiana
Position: MMJ (Multi-Media Journalist)

WFFT-TV FOX 55 is seeking a curious, driven MMJ to join our award-winning, community-focused newsroom. You’ll enterprise, shoot, write, edit, and present original reporting for TV, web, and social—Monday through Friday—with the agility to jump on breaking news and deliver crisp, accurate live shots. You also will be trained on all aspects of the newsroom, including producer and anchor skills.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Enterprise, gather, shoot, write, and edit compelling daily stories.
Report live from the field with clear, confident delivery.
Write, edit, and publish timely digital and social content.
Pitch strong, locally relevant story ideas consistently; organize workload and meet strict deadlines.
Build and maintain a diverse network of contacts and sources.
Represent WFFT at community events and station initiatives.
Collaborate with producers, anchors, photojournalists, and directors to ensure clean, engaging newscasts.
Uphold newsroom standards for fairness, accuracy, attribution, and ethics.
Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
College degree in journalism, broadcasting, or related field (preferred).
Previous experience preferred, but not required.
Strong news judgment and writing skills; excellent spelling/grammar.
Proven live and ad-lib ability—with or without scripts/teleprompter.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
Must pass a background check and be willing to reside in the Fort Wayne DMA.
Preferred Skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Non-linear editing proficiency (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Edius).
Familiarity with ENPS.
Web publishing and social media best practices.
Creativity in visual storytelling and live reporting.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Fast-moving, deadline-intense newsroom with breaking news demands.
Regular local travel; ability to lift/transport up to 60 lbs.
Work in varied outdoor conditions as news warrants.
Occasional nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned.
