EBD Services Mechanical Designer (Entry Level) Employment Type: Full-time Location: Lynnwood, Puget Sound Region Schedule: In Office Salary Range: $81,000 to $98,000 per year

Role Overview Qualified applicants should possess an entry level understanding of building engineering concepts and be capable of working with senior level staff to support basic Mechanical engineering design tasks. Tasks include Mechanical load calculations, Mechanical device layout and coordination, mechanical coordination, branch circuit design, distribution equipment sizing and feeder design, and use of AutoCAD and Revit to produce design engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Designer

Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials.

Use Revit and AutoCAD software to produce contract documentation to communicate Mechanical design information.

Attend meetings to coordinate the mechanical design with architectural and design engineering partners and contractors.

Perform calculations to analyze and design individual building mechanical system components using industry standard software and internal tools.

Assist with engineering duties on projects of a basic level of complexity.

Assist with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions.

Conduct site observation reports and assist in review of RFIs during construction phase activities.

Demonstrated Capabilities

Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a highly collaborative professional environment.

Understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and the ability to effectively communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical project team members, using a variety of methods including email, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

Basic knowledge of applicable codes and standards including the National Mechanical Code, Washington State Seattle Energy Codes, and FGI Guidelines. Developing understanding of NFPA 13, 99, and 101.

Understanding of Revit and AutoCAD, and the use of the software as a drafting and design tool.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic level knowledge with energy modeling software.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree.

Entry level to 1+ years of work experience.

Prior experience in MEP consulting engineering is a plus.

Work Environment & Requirements

Typical business hours are between 7 AM and 5 PM. At times, work hours will require work outside of normal business hours and may include work on Saturday and Sunday to meet project deadlines and support project requirements for clients with 24x7 business operations (typically less than 10% of time).

Travel required within the Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. Typically, 5% of the time.

The work environment will primarily be in-office at the Company Lynnwood office location to facilitate employee technical growth and mentoring by peers and senior engineering staff. Working with computers and remaining sedentary for extended periods of time while performing technical calculations and developing mechanical drawings/models.

Field work which may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather and include transport and handling of sensitive electronic equipment of up to 30 pounds.

Physical attendance to perform field investigation, attend in-person design meetings at client/architect locations.

Compliance with background check & vaccination policies as required by firm clients which may include Covid, Flu, and other vaccinations as part of Owner requirements for working on site at client facilities.
