Staff Nurse (40 hours a week)

to work within our specialty clinics supporting our

Sports Medicine Clinic

in Cedar Rapids. This position will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and provide direct assistance to other medical providers such as physicians, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, and medical assistants in providing care for our patients at the Cedar Rapids Sports Medicine Clinic. We offer our patients comprehensive care teams which includes physicians, physical therapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other advanced care providers.

Duties to include:

Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.

Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.

Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.

Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.

Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.

Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.

Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.

Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.

Collaborate with attending provider to apply or remove splints/casts/braces and fit crutches. Provide product education.

Remove sutures and provide appropriate wound care and dressing changes.

Assist physician in procedures as needed including preparing materials for pre- and post-injections and sutures, and preparation of patients’ treatment site.

Coordinate and prepare patient medical records and imaging from outside providers prior to appointments to expedite clinic efficiency.

Communicate via compliant phone/electronic means with patient, family, and their medical staff to follow up and enhance continuity of care.

Knowledge of health care policies for all clinical practices and applicable laws and regulations governing proper clinical practice; ability to demonstrate ethical behavior in a variety of situations.

Providing support to other clinics to include but limited to: Urgent Care Clinics, QuickCare Clinics, etc.

Perform other projects or tasks as assigned.

Percent of Time:

100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, Variable hours between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM; no holidays; no weekends; no on call

Location:

Cedar Rapids, IA (surrounding clinic sites based on needs/hours up to a two-hour radius)

Salary

$57,587 - $105,636

(based on years of experience)

Education

An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Master’s of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.

Required Qualifications

Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.

General computer skills are required

Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association

Special Qualification

Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical hours/need.

Highly Desired Qualifications

1 - 3 years of general nursing experience.

Desired Qualifications

Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired.

If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.

1 - 3 years of orthopedic nursing experience.

Ambulatory nursing care experience
