Music Production Instructor (Music Industry Development)
Join us at The MusicianShip and help young people explore music production through digital audio workstations, beat creation, songwriting, and audio editing. Students will finish the program with original compositions or collaborative pieces showcased at the End of Year Showcase.
Responsibilities
- Create and deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lesson plans covering fundamentals of music production, including recording, sequencing, and arranging.
- Teach students to use digital audio workstations (DAWs), MIDI controllers, and recording equipment to create and refine original music.
- Lead hands‑on projects that develop technical skills in beat‑making, sampling, sound design, mixing, and mastering.
- Guide exploration of diverse genres, styles, and production techniques to broaden creative toolkit.
- Foster a supportive, collaborative learning environment encouraging experimentation, peer feedback, and artistic growth.
- Help students navigate the creative process from idea to final product, preparing them for performance or recording showcases.
- Provide instruction on workflow, file management, and equipment care to ensure safe and efficient technology use.
- Stay informed on emerging tools and trends, integrating innovations into the curriculum.
Requirements
- Proficiency in DAWs such as Soundtrap, BandLab, FL Studio, or Logic.
- Experience teaching music production to youth.
- Strong communication and project‑based instruction skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Lesson planning and classroom & behavior management experience.
Compensation
Commensurate with experience. Benefits are not provided for this role.
Reporting structure
Reports to the Department of Education and Community Programs Manager and Associate Manager.
