Job Summary / Description
We are looking for a Chief Photographer to join our news team. You will shoot and edit stories for on‑air and online, and act as the lead trainer for camera equipment and video editing. This role will help grow and develop the technical skills of a winning news team.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the News Director and other newsroom leaders on daily story and project assignments.
- Shoot and edit video and audio for broadcast, streaming, promos, and teases.
- Generate story ideas; identify potential stories.
- Communicate with reporters, writers, and producers on video needed for news stories.
- Respond to breaking news or urgent newsroom situations.
- Maintain camera/related equipment and news vehicles.
- Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Degree in Journalism or a related field preferred.
- Must be a visual storyteller with sound news judgment.
- Able to shoot and edit stories, and work with producers/reporters.
- Must possess the ability to edit on non‑linear equipment and adapt to new technology.
- Knowledge of news‑related software and basic web posting software preferred.
- Must work well under pressure with limited supervision and daily deadlines.
- Ability to stay current with national and local news/weather.
- Strong initiative and attention to detail are required.
- Working knowledge of SNG trucks is a plus.
- Must have a clean driving record.
