Library Associate – Part Time (City of Durango)

We’re looking for a Youth Services Library Associate to assist with programming for children, teens, and families, foster a love for reading, create welcoming spaces, and collaborate with schools. In addition, you will provide excellent customer service to patrons of all ages and city colleagues.

Essential Job Duties

  • Assist patrons with friendly, knowledgeable support.
  • Handle circulation tasks: issuing cards, checking materials, inspecting returns, managing holds, generating notices, processing fines and fees.
  • Help patrons use library equipment such as computers, printers, scanners, self‑check stations, and photocopiers.
  • Guide patrons in using electronic resources: catalog, databases, downloadables.
  • Sort and shelve library materials as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the library and its collection.
  • Assist with program planning and implementation for children and teens, create displays, and contribute to program success.
  • Support library operations and patrons of all ages in a variety of settings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience and dedication to delivering high‑quality customer service.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of the public library role and youth programming; ability to learn library tasks quickly.
