News Photographer – Part‑Time

Baltimore has an immediate opening for a News Photographer Part‑Time.

The ideal photojournalist must be multi‑skilled and independent, with the ability to get the job done on their own or with partners. They should be technically skilled, eager to learn new technologies, and a great teammate to our award‑winning staff.

Photographers are responsible for covering news stories and events by shooting high‑quality pictures, telling stories through creative editing, and serving on‑air and digital audiences with reliable, technically skilled live remotes. A successful candidate must capture compelling visuals and audio at the speed of news with a “can‑do” attitude and drive.

Must Be Able To

• Safely & competently operate news gathering equipment including cameras, light kits, microphones and tripods. Sony XD experience effective, but P2 and JVC acceptable.
• Edit content quickly and accurately in house or in the field. Edius experience is a definite plus, but Premiere, Final Cut and Avid expertise are all qualifying skills.
• Proficiently use GoPro cameras and incorporate them into daily storytelling.
• FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone certified – a big plus. We will invest in training if the hired candidate is not certified.
• Follow CBS and OSHA safety standards.

Required Skills

• Excellent technical and creative skills, including phenomenal lighting of interviews and live shots.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes, tight‑deadline environment.
• A self‑starter and competitive, with excellent people and organizational skills.
• Strong work ethic, positive disposition & leadership qualities with the ability to multi‑task.
• Must be able to lift, handle, and work with at least 50 pounds of equipment.
• Work assigned schedules which may include early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime.
• Dejero, Live‑U and/or TVU live operations experience is required.
• ENG & SNG live truck experience preferred but not required.
• Must have or be eligible to acquire, and maintain, a valid Maryland driver’s license.

Salary & Benefits

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors including geography, market demands, experience, training, and education.
