The Opportunity As a Product Designer specializing in Information Architecture, you will champion the needs and goals of our business users by defining and executing strategic initiatives to support the development of a company-wide data model. by defining and executing strategic data initiatives. This role requires extensive collaboration with SMEs, engineers, and business leaders to facilitate a conceptual model of how data is used to facilitate workflow and information discovery in our products. You will effectively communicate and advocate for end user needs in the design, validation, and implementation of organizational data models.

As the expert on the design team on our data and its structure, you will also collaborate with other designers and teams to create effective workflows for data capture and consumption. Moreover, you will be responsible for ensuring consistency in how data is used, updated, and referenced across our products.

What You’ll Be Doing

Develop the information architecture of products and features, including organizing content and features to ensure users can easily find what they're looking for across multiple products

With minimal supervision, create conceptual models and content maps to link related data

Inform the design of the Enterprise Data Model based on program and project level engagement, supporting reuse.

Partner with business and technical users to gather and analyze metadata requirements, shaping structured models

Support the design of workflows for capturing and consuming data

Ensure that information structures and systems support current and future product and data needs.

Design information architectures that enable AI capabilities, including structuring data schemas and taxonomies to support machine learning models, AI-powered search, intelligent recommendations, and automated workflows

Collaborate with data science and AI/ML teams to ensure data structures facilitate model training, feature engineering, and AI-driven user experiences

Define metadata standards and semantic relationships that enable natural language processing, contextual understanding, and intelligent data discovery

Architect information systems that support both human and AI agents, ensuring data is structured for consumption by AI systems while maintaining human usability

As needed, partner with other product designers and user experience researchers to test and implement information structures in user interfaces.

Document best practices and processes for managing taxonomies and metadata.

Create and maintain content governance frameworks; Conduct periodic audits and recommend taxonomy principles, standards and best practices on the performance of the system to align to the broader data strategy and framework, including keeping the strategy relevant.

Collaborate with product management and development to realize the product vision, product strategy, product discovery, roll out of data-related tools, platforms and the implementation of data product roadmap.

Be involved in all aspects of design execution, from concept creation to prototyping, user testing, and final production.

Visually communicate your work for influence and impact.

What You Bring to the Team

8+ years of experience in strategic initiatives managing the Information Architecture for complex data products, with a background in information architecture, structuring taxonomies, and product design

Preferred: Master’s in Library Science, Information Science, Computational Linguistics, Human-Computer Interaction or related field

Preferred: Certification in OOUX

Experience designing information architectures for AI-enabled products or working with data science/ML teams

Understanding of how data structure impacts AI model performance, including knowledge graphs, ontologies, and semantic relationships

Familiarity with AI/ML concepts such as vector embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or knowledge management systems

High level of motivation, self-starter, ability to demonstrate effective project management and completion of complex tasks with little guidance.

Exceptional ability to work with business leaders, SMEs, and cross-functional teams to shape structured knowledge models.

Knowledge of modern metadata management and data catalog tools.

Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Natural curiosity to explore how to make products better for users.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, and working on a computer for extended periods. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.

Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace.

Team members who live within commuting distance of one of our office locations (Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky or Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence every Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

All team members must reside and perform their work within the United States.
