Role Overview A media relations strategist at Carmichael Lynch Relate develops and executes earned media relations strategies that support the overall business goals of the agency and its clients. The strategist works closely with account teams and clients to provide strategic counsel, develop effective plans, execute those plans, and evaluate outcomes. Areas of Focus Immediate Needs: Support for home, design, and lifestyle clients. Work load may shift based on client needs. Media Relations Lead: Provide strong POVs and counsel on media practices to clients and junior staff; develop comprehensive media strategies. Day‑to‑Day Media Relations Develop and maintain strong media contacts, creating networking opportunities. Consume news outlets and current events to understand what makes news and who covers what topics. Identify and execute appropriate tactics to support clients’ media relations goals (pitching, events, desksides, news surveys, media tours, etc.). Lead writing of press materials and PR plans. Provide a steady stream of story ideas and journalists for pitch calendars and logs. Oversee editorial calendar research across verticals. Monitor media developments/trends and share insights. Manage media lists and pitch logs. Partner with teams to ensure coverage is tracked successfully. Qualifications / Traits Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, or a closely related field. Background: Consumer and/or corporate media relations experience; prior journalism or PR agency experience is a definite plus. Skills & Experience: Minimum of four years of public relations or relevant work (agency, corporate communications, CPG, or other consumer lifestyle communications). Strong writing, earned media strategy building, relationship building with media, account teams, and clients; team building skills and motivation. Salary Range Salary Range: $75,000–$85,000 annually Benefits Professional Development (performance reviews twice annually, training opportunities, one‑on‑ones).
