Structural CAD Designer
to join their team. In this role, you’ll translate structural engineer designs into constructible drawings, work with modern CAD/BIM tools, and contribute to important community focused structural projects. If you’re detail driven, tech savvy, and ready to step beyond “just drafting,” this is a great opportunity to grow your skills with a company that values your input and ownership.
Responsibilities
Produce and refine structural drawings, models and construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit Structure and other CAD/BIM platforms.
Interpret structural design information (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) and convert this into accurate plans and details.
Coordinate drafting efforts with engineers, project managers and multidisciplinary project teams to ensure alignment and constructability.
Perform QA/QC checks on your drawings to ensure accuracy, compliance with project standards and constructible output.
Maintain and update CAD/BIM standards, templates and libraries for structural work.
Assist with project documentation, deliverables tracking, and preparation of client submittals, field coordination, and presentations.
Participate in preliminary layouts and field coordination as needed to support the structural team.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2-4 years of CAD/BIM experience in structural engineering or structural drafting role.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit Structure (or equivalent structural BIM platform).
Working knowledge of structural systems (steel, concrete, timber, masonry) and how design translates into drafting/modeling.
Understanding and application of QA/QC processes, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy and constructability.
Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to thrive in a collaborative project team environment.
Nice to Have Qualifications
Experience working on structural engineering projects (bridges, buildings, industrial structures) in the Northeast (especially Maine).
Familiarity with building codes and structural drafting standards.
Experience with complex BIM workflows, clash detection, or coordinated multi discipline modeling.
Exposure to field coordination with construction teams or site visits.
Interest in or aptitude for taking on increasing technical responsibility and advancing into more specialized roles.
Benefits
A meaningful role where your work supports real structural projects across Maine, and your work directly matters.
An employee owner culture — you’re not just a number, you’re part of the firm’s success (the firm is 100% employee owned).
Training, mentorship, and development opportunities to expand your structural CAD/BIM skills and grow your career.
Comprehensive benefits: high employer paid medical coverage, 100% dental/short term disability/life insurance, ESOP + 401(k) with match, earned time off + paid holidays, and a professional development allowance.
