Position Title:
Civil Designer
Location:
1301 Solana Blvd, Westlake, TX 76262
Primary Function The Civil designer will perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CAD will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material
Calculate structure heights and weights, concrete volumes, equipment fit-up, or other basic tasks
Learn and properly use the document management system
Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications / Experience Associates degree in drafting & Design is required. Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position requires minimal physical effort.
Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure to year‑round weather conditions and noise.
Must be able and willing to travel overnight for trainings and/or meetings as required (10%).
Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
