New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District
Reports To:
Design Director
Position Summary The Designer, Suits will contribute to the creation of a commercially relevant and brand-right product line that balances trend-driven fashion with the customer’s needs. This role develops seasonal assortments from concept through final prototypes, supporting strategic and financial growth objectives for the brand.
Key Responsibilities Line & Product Design
Build seasonal assortments from concept research and sketch through final approved prototypes
Pull swatches, research inspiration styles, and identify emerging trends to drive development
Create accurate technical sketches, tech packs, and oversee sample development
Collaborate with technical design to correct prototypes and ensure quality construction
Seasonal Development & Communication
Shop the market and gather seasonal inspiration for design direction
Contribute to color palette and material development aligned to seasonal strategy
Communicate daily with global vendors and overseas partners on development updates and approvals
Partner with Sales and Planning to assess sales trends and integrate learnings into future line plans
Work cross-functionally with Sourcing/Production teams to support target costing and profitability
Qualifications & Experience
4–5 years of apparel design experience required
Must
have proved tailored wovens experience
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
Strong flat sketching skills — both hand and digital
Proven ability to resolve fit and proto issues collaboratively with technical teams
Knowledge of varied garment construction techniques across multiple product categories
Experience working with overseas factories and vendors
Strong trend awareness and ability to translate concepts into commercial product
Exceptional organizational, follow-through, and detail execution skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Experience mentoring junior talent or managing contract resources is a plus
Education
Bachelor’s or technical degree in Fashion Design or equivalent experience
Compensation Annual Equivalent:
$70,000 – $110,000 (based on a 40-hour work week)
