Responsibilities Cedar Creek Hospital of Michigan is a beautiful and state of the art 72-bed facility that offers evidence-based treatment to adolescents and adults with mental health issues. The activity therapist will support patients through recreational therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge leisure planning. Activities are delivered individually or in groups to foster positive changes in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical behaviors. The therapist teaches healthy coping skills and informs patients about available leisure resources to encourage continued engagement after discharge, while adhering to current standards of practice.

Position Overview The Activity Therapist, CTRS or other Creative Arts Therapist (Dance and Movement, Art, Music, etc) is responsible for the provision of Recreational Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning. This team utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client's behavior, be it cognitive, social, emotional or physical.

Qualifications

CTRS Certification by National Certification Board (NCTRC) required or other Master's Level Creative Arts Therapist (Dance and Movement, Art, Music, etc) with appropriate board certification.

Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
