Facilities Maintenance Support I - Library
Salary Range: $16.6357 - $18.3475 per hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 3 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training.
Work Schedule: Tuesday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 1:30 a.m. and Saturdays, 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Uses vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, polishers, as well as hand cleaning supplies to maintain facilities
Safely uses cleaning chemicals, some of which may be caustic or may produce toxic gases if improperly mixed
Removes waste material to dumpsters and recycling to proper collection locations
Removes snow from sidewalk areas and ensures that ice conditions are treated with salt or sand
Waters plants inside buildings and in the immediate outdoor areas
Cleans break areas
Cleans and maintains supplies in restrooms
Monitors for and removes graffiti
Performs a regular cleaning and janitorial materials inventory and notifies the supervisor when material stocks are low
May order department supplies in order to maintain a working inventory, preparing purchase orders for replenishment as directed by policy
Receives janitorial supplies and stores them in designated areas
Observes people or conditions that may present a threat to safety and security and reports them
Observes burnt out lights and reports them for correction
Observes unattended packages left in the facility and calls for assistance if there is a possibility of a hazard
Monitors heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as directed and reports to address out-of-order conditions
Moves office partitions and furnishings, or assists others with moves
May provide routine responses to the public on basic questions such as directions
May set up tables, chairs, and/or stage for events and return them to their proper location(s) afterwards
Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications & Skills
Ability to follow basic written instructions and simple diagrams
Minimum of six (6) months experience doing general custodial work, or equivalent
Must be able to answer basic questions from the public in a courteous manner
A valid Montana driver's license or must be obtained within sixty (60) days of employment
Preferred Qualifications And Skills
A high school diploma or equivalent
